Surges of crystal waves roll upon the shore
A wondrous sight that cannot be ignored
Life up here is quaint and peaceful
But appearances can be deceitful
Reeling me in like a magic trick
Only to pull me under lightning quick
Anchors tugging me down below
Darkness engulfing me nice and slow
Trapped undersea silently drowning
No one would hear if I tried shouting
Pain ricocheted from loss? Grief?
The bond severed; my trust stolen like a thief
These rugged scars placed on my heart
Retaliated by slowly tearing me apart
Accepting the end of motherly love
Willing the cold depths to take me, praying to God above

Sheesh. This one read like a song. Excellent work on this one as well. ๐คฏ

Wow – Thank you. ๐ That is such a nice compliment. I tend to like the flow of poems that rhyme. It holds a lot of meaning and just poured out of me.

Same. That is the style that I love as well. Narrative poems I have such a blast putting together. I can tell, you bled the words. Deep and thought provoking. ๐๐

Thank you! So much truth with โbled the wordsโ. Just like Hemingway said: โAll you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.โ Something we all do as writers and once weโve written whatโs on our chest, it lifts a little weight and allows us to breath a little easier ๐

Brownie points ๐ฏfor you for knowing that was a Hemingway quote lol.๐ ๐ So well said. The anxiety and strife is expunged and then we begin to recharge our psyche. ๐โบ๏ธ

Well, thank you. Thank you very much *Elvis voice* ๐
So many family members/friends have told me that they donโt know how I read and write like I do. Saying that they couldnโt do that. Aside from enjoying it, itโs as you said โrecharge our psycheโ.
You get it. What we write, using our words… is our art.

Haha! You did not just quote Elvis! More brownie points! This is nuts, you just used that quote and I wrote a short story a month ago set in a dystopian future revolving around the only remaining robot in the world. His name is E.L.V.I.S.. The caretakers have modified the robot knowing that it is the last piece of resistance they have against the evils of the world. He randomly quotes Elvis and when he gets activated for the first time he says, “thank you, thank you very much,” in an Elvis voice. Haha. What a crazy coincidence! ๐๐

Before I replied to your comment, my mouth was hanging open in shock at the uncanny timing. I looked around my living room, making sure I wasn’t bugged, lol! I think that’s a good way of putting it for sure. Definitely on the same wave length! We…are…AWESOME! Haha! ๐๐
